What the quiz asks

Questions cover how much chilli you handle, what you put on your food at home, and the kind of meal you want tonight. Each answer nudges you toward a basting. Questions are short and there are no trick answers, so the whole thing takes less time than the drive thru queue.

Nobody gets marked wrong. A taste for gentle flavours lands on Lemon & Herb; a love of heat climbs toward Original Chilli or Extremo Picante, the hottest Oporto basting. There is no score and no wrong result, only a match.

The quiz takes about a minute. It works well for first timers who have never ordered at Oporto and want a starting point, or regulars curious if they have been playing it too safe for years.

Typical results and orders

Mild matches often point to a Quarter Chicken on Lemon & Herb with Spicy Rice at from $4.50. A light, simple meal to test the waters.

Medium matches suit the classic Original Chilli, perhaps on a Half Chicken at $13.50. Heat seekers get Extremo Picante, sometimes on a Whole Chicken for a group of brave friends. Each result links to the item page for the suggested order, with sizes and allergens.

Burger lovers get matched too. The Bondi Burger carries Original Chilli sauce, so it suits medium heat fans at from $10.00.

What to do with your match

Treat the match as a starting point. Order the suggested basting on a smaller cut first, then move up a level next time if it felt easy. If the match turns out too hot, drop one level next time and keep the same order. If it was too tame, go up one. A few visits are usually enough to find the basting you will keep ordering for years.

The quiz is just for fun and has no data on your taste beyond your answers. For a side by side look at all four bastings, the Spice Level Selector on our tools page lays them out in order. Write down your match and order it on your next Oporto visit, then see if the quiz got your taste right.

Share your result with friends and compare. A group with mixed matches can order a Whole Chicken on a mild basting with a hot dipping sauce on the side, so every person gets the heat level the quiz picked for them.
