Where our allergen data comes from

The allergen information on each item page copies Oporto's published allergen chart. We do not test food, inspect kitchens or add our own assessments. When Oporto updates its chart, our pages change once the data is collected again in a daily rebuild.

Some items do not appear on Oporto's allergen chart at all. Those pages say the item is not listed and suggest checking each component or asking in store. A missing entry never means an item is free of allergens.

How to read the markings

P stands for present: the allergen is an ingredient in the item. T stands for trace: the item may contain traces of the allergen, usually through shared ingredients or equipment. An item with no marking for an allergen is still not guaranteed free of it.

Items come in different sizes, sauces and bastings, and each change alters what goes on the plate. A burger with an extra sauce, or chicken with a different basting, carries the allergens of every part added. The Allergen Checker filters the menu by the allergens you want to avoid, using the same chart.

Shared kitchens and cross contact

Oporto kitchens use shared fryers, grills, benches and utensils. Fried foods share oil, and items are prepared side by side. Cross contact between allergens is possible with any item, at any store.

Recipes and suppliers also change over time. The published chart, and this site with it, can trail what is actually served.

Always confirm in store

Tell Oporto staff about any allergy before you order, every time, and ask them to check the current ingredients for the exact item and size. For a severe allergy, ask about preparation and shared equipment as well.

If you order through an app, use any allergy notes field provided and contact the store directly if you are unsure. Oporto is the only source that can confirm what is in your food on the day.
