The Oporto Quarter Chicken is the single serve cut of the flame grilled bird, at $9.50 and 1,238 kJ. It is grilled flat and brush basted in your choice of Lemon & Herb, Original Chilli, New Portuguese BBQ or Extremo Picante. One quarter feeds one person, and pairs well with a side for a full plate.
About the Oporto Quarter Chicken
Of the three bird sizes, this is the smallest. The quarter comes off the same flame grilled chicken as the half and whole, cooked flat and brushed with basting so the outside chars and the meat stays juicy. Five basting options are listed, No Basting among them. The quarter is also the lowest priced way into Oporto's signature flame grilled chicken, which makes it a good first order for anyone new to the brand.
A small portion is a good way to test a basting you have not tried. Lemon & Herb sits at the mild end, fresh and herby. Original Chilli is Oporto's classic heat, and New Portuguese BBQ is the smoky option. Extremo Picante is the hottest, and a quarter is a safer size to try it on than a whole bird. No Basting keeps it plain for kids. Because the portion is small, the basting is a bigger share of each mouthful than on a whole bird. Lemon & Herb stays bright and mild; Extremo Picante will be very hot from the first bite, so order a drink with it.
In everyday terms, a quarter chicken feeds one adult with a side, or makes a decent meal for an older child. It is the lightest bird cut on energy. Need more? A Half Chicken doubles the portion. For boneless grilled chicken instead, try the Chicken Tenders 4 pack. With 1,238 kJ on its own, the quarter leaves plenty of room for chips or a second item. One person can also order two quarters with different bastings to compare flavours in a single meal.
