How to use the Veggie & Vegan Finder
The meat free mains
Two mains are built around a veggie patty: the Veggie Burger at $12.50 and the Veggie Rappa at $12.50. The Rappa is the bigger meal, at 3,760 kJ against 2,180 kJ for the burger. Both mains are priced the same at our base store, so the choice comes down to bun or wrap and how hungry you are.
Watch the halloumi names. The Halloumi & Chicken Burger and Halloumi & Chicken Rappa both contain chicken, so they are not vegetarian even though cheese leads the name. They appear here only so you can rule them out. Pick the burger for a lighter lunch and the Rappa for a bigger appetite.
Both veggie mains come with Lemon & Herb sauce as standard, which keeps them mild. Ask for a different dipping sauce on the side if you want more heat with your meat free order.
Vegetarian is not the same as vegan
Oporto's allergen chart lists egg and milk in both the Veggie Burger and the Veggie Rappa, so neither suits a vegan order as served. Cheese and mayo come standard on both. Churros list wheat and gluten as present and egg and milk as traces, so check them too if you avoid animal products.
Sides are the better bet for plant based eaters. Grilled Corn, Spicy Rice, Chips and the Portuguese Salad are meat free, but Oporto does not label anything as vegan, so check the chart for egg and milk and ask about shared fryers before ordering.
Strict vegetarians should also think about cooking methods. Many fast food kitchens share grills and fryers, so ask the store how the veggie patty is cooked if contact with meat matters to you.
A meat free meal, start to finish
Pair a Veggie Burger with Grilled Corn at from $4.50 for a lighter plate, or with Chips at from 1,531 kJ for something heavier. The Pita & Garlic Dip at $4.50 makes a shareable side for the table. Add a Portuguese Salad at from 130 kJ for the lightest side on the menu.
For dessert, Churros at from $5.80 are meat free. A Hash Brown at $2.60 covers breakfast, though breakfast items only run until 11am. Spicy Rice at from $4.50 brings more substance to a meat free plate.
For a group with one vegetarian, share meals help. The Meal for 2 and Burger Meal for 4 let you choose a Veggie Burger as one of the mains, so the whole table orders together without a separate line.
