Add the items you plan to order and the estimator keeps a running dollar total, so there are no surprises at the counter. Small extras count: a Garlic Dipping Sauce is $1.50 and a can is $4.00. Prices come from our base store menu and can vary by store.

Where an Oporto order cost really comes from

Mains set the base, but extras decide the final figure. Three dipping sauces at $1.50 each, two cans and a dessert can add more than a whole side. The estimator lists every line so you see which add ons pushed the total up. Desserts follow the same pattern: a small sweet item turns a tidy total into a bigger one before you notice.

Sides are priced evenly at our base store. Chips, Spicy Rice, Grilled Corn, Crunchy Slaw and the Pita & Garlic Dip all sit at from $4.50, so picking between them comes down to taste, not cost. Small items are easy to forget when adding up in your head, which is why the estimate tends to beat a guess.

Drinks are the next biggest extra. A Cans 375ml costs $4.00 at our base store, so three people adding a can each moves the total more than a sauce or two ever will.

Store prices and why totals differ

Our figures come from Oporto's public online menu for a base store in Padstow NSW. Prices can vary by store, so expect your real total to land close to the estimate rather than match it to the cent. Treat the estimate as a planning number and keep a few dollars of buffer for price differences at your store.

Delivery adds its own fees and menu markups, which the estimator does not include. Add a line by hand if you want those in the total.

Meal deals also change the picture. Oporto's own meal upgrade bundles a side and drink at a set extra, so compare that figure with the separate prices before you pay.

Ways to bring the total down

Cut duplicate sauces first. One shared Original Chilli Dipping Sauce at $1.50 often does the work of two for a table. A meal for one rarely needs more than one sauce, and water from home costs nothing.

Look at the small sweet items. A Bola de Berlim at from $3.00 costs less than most drinks, and a Hash Brown at $2.60 fills a gap at breakfast for little outlay. Share meals sometimes beat buying parts separately, so price both before you order. A shared family order often costs less than separate meals, so try both ways in the estimator.

Plan the order before the queue. A total you have already checked is much easier to stick to than one you build at the counter while the line waits behind you.
